SFC Barrell was stationed at Fort Belvoir on 9/11. At the time, he was a Staff Sergeant whose EOD company provided emergency response to the Pentagon and later volunteered in NYC at Ground Zero. He deployed first to Kosovo is 2002, and then to Iraq 3 times where he was promoted to Sergeant First Class (SFC).
SSG Bubbett served from March 2003 through August 2013 in Iraq. In country he was assigned with the 115th Field Hospital at Abu Ghraib Prison and tasked with caring for both friend and foe. During the battle of Abu Ghraib, he faced heavy fire. After, he had to report to the ER where they treated by US servicemembers and insurgents. Though the fighting lasted just under 3 hours, it was the longest 3 hours of his deployment.
Lieutenant Colonel Harrington watched the attacks on 9/11 on TV at Redstone Arsenal. 13 months later he was part of the site beddown team that built a base for over 2000 personnel to launch operations into Iraq. Their mission was to support Army Special Forces in the Iraqi desert, provide air/ground support against SCUD missiles, and provide air cover for all forces west of Baghdad. He ended his 35-year Air Force career as Commander of a civil engineer squadron. His unit operated Camp Justice.
Major Deana Perry dedicated 12 years and 7 months of exceptional active-duty service to the United States Army Ordnance Corps. Commissioned on September 25, 1993, from the ROTC program at the University of North Alabama, she became an expert in complex logistical operations and combat readiness. A highly accomplished leader, Major Perry achieved the significant milestone of being selected to serve as a Company Commander twice during her career.
Lieutenant Colonel James Shawn Perry dedicated 21 years and 8 months of exceptional active-duty leadership to the United States Army as an Army Aviator and Cavalryman. Entering active duty on June 6, 1991, LTC Perry went on to serve as a highly specialized master tactician and pilot, mastering complex combined arms aviation operations. For his distinguished service across his career, he was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal.
